Information we collect

How we use information

AI features

Deux may send relevant conversation text, draft messages, relationship type and coaching preferences, and recent interaction context to AI-processing systems when AI features are used. AI output is intended for communication coaching and reflection. It is not medical care, therapy, diagnosis, crisis counseling, legal advice, or a replacement for professional help.

Talk to Deux is a private conversation with the AI helper, separate from chats with other people. We store its messages and your AI consent choice so you can return to the conversation. You can clear its history in the app; deleting your account also removes this history. When you use an AI tool, the text and context described by that tool's consent notice are sent to the AI service to produce its response.

Service providers

Deux uses service providers to operate the app. They help with chat delivery and storage, push notifications and app configuration, subscriptions and purchases (together with the app stores), cloud hosting and databases, and AI processing for AI features. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to Deux, subject to their own terms and privacy practices.

We use a support system to receive your feedback and show our team's replies inside Deux, and an email delivery service for sign-in, verification and password-reset messages when those email features are enabled.

If crash reporting is enabled, a short technical error report, with no messages and no names, is sent to our error-reporting provider when Deux breaks so we can fix the problem.

App updates

App versions with automatic updates check for compatible fixes when they start. Our update-delivery provider receives the network address, phone platform, app compatibility version, and technical installation and update identifiers needed to deliver the right files. We do not send messages, drafts, contacts, recordings, or account details with these requests. These checks run even when optional usage sharing is off. A downloaded update applies on a later app launch; it does not restart a conversation while you are using it.

Optional usage sharing

Usage sharing is off for new accounts. To start sharing, turn on Share usage data in Menu > Privacy & safety. Existing account settings are kept. You can change this setting at any time, with no effect on the features you can use. While sharing is on, our server sends screen categories, feature actions, outcomes, timings, platform, and app version to an analytics provider to help improve Deux. A random analytics identifier lets us understand repeated use. It is separate from your account id; we do not send names, messages, contacts, recordings, conversation identifiers, or your device address. There is no session recording or automatic capture of what you type. You can turn sharing off at any time. Turning it off or requesting account deletion removes the link between your account and the analytics identifier and stops new collection. Past usage events may remain without that account link. If an account setting cannot be saved while offline, sharing stops on that phone and the account update retries when it reconnects.

Sharing

Deux does not sell personal information. Information is shared with other users only when a user chooses to communicate, invite, join a conversation, send media, share location, or use a Shared Facilitator feature. Information may also be shared with service providers, app stores, law enforcement, regulators, or other parties when required for safety, security, legal compliance, billing, or operation of the service.

Retention and deletion

Deux keeps information while it is needed to provide the app, maintain security, resolve disputes, comply with law, and support billing records. Signed-in users can permanently delete their account from Menu > Privacy & safety > Delete account. The authenticated flow removes private account, authentication, contact, relationship, AI, and Deux-controlled billing data and requests provider erasure before signing the device out. Users without app access can use the public deletion resource or our contact form.

Shared conversations, counterpart messages, and counterpart-visible records may remain so another participant does not lose their own history. Retained moderation records are anonymized when an account is deleted: deleting-user links and reporter-authored notes are removed while privacy-minimal report identifiers, status, and timestamps remain. Internal tombstone/lifecycle data and records required for law, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, app-store billing, tax, accounting, or backup integrity may also be retained.

User choices

Children

Deux is not designed for children. Users should not use Deux if they are not old enough to consent to the processing of their personal information in their country or region.
